To retrieve your Windows 10/11 Pro product key after rebuilding the OS, you can follow these steps:

1. Check Your Email: If you purchased Windows Pro online, the product key may have been sent to your email.
2. Microsoft Account: If your Windows 10/11 Pro was previously activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account, signing in with that account on the new installation should automatically reactivate Windows without needing to enter the key manually.
3. Command Prompt: If you still have access to the previous installation, you can retrieve the product key by running a command in an elevated Command Prompt. Use the command wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey to display the key.
4. Third-Party Key Finder: You can use third-party key-finder utilities to extract the product key from the registry of the old installation if you can access it.

If you need to purchase a new key, you can do so through the Microsoft Store app on your device.

Upgrade license is digital only. You won't get 5x5 key for that.

This is how you use it as long as your Home edition is already activated.

Option 1: Go to the Store app, search for Windows 11 Pro, and install from there.

Option 2: You can go to Settings > System > Activation > Change product key

Disconnect internet, and disable any third party antivirus, key in the generic key instead: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

That should get you to Pro. Once restarted, you can connect back to the internet, sign into your Microsoft account. See if it is activated.

For future reference -

The upgrade version is also transferrable if your hardware changes in the future. Always use it on already activated Home edition. Because it is digital only, it is very important that you never delete the old install device name from your Microsoft account. Then you can run Option 2 above, then go to Settings > System > Activation, run the troubleshooter, choose the hardware change option. When it asks you where it is installed on right now, you should choose the old device name. Then click on Activate button. And on the next screen when it asks you where to transfer it to, choose your new device name.
