Unable to Create Virtual Machines in Any Region

Hello Azure Community,

I recently activated an Azure for Students subscription. However, I am unable to create a virtual machine in any region. Every attempt fails with the message:

“Your subscription doesn’t support virtual machine creation in this region. Choose a different location.”

I have already tried all available regions (including Central US, South Central US, West US 3, North Europe, and West Europe), but the error persists everywhere.

I suspect my subscription may have a backend restriction or an “Allowed resource deployment regions” policy applied that is preventing VM creation.

This issue is blocking me from completing my coursework, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Azure for Students restricts which regions you can deploy resources to. Typically you are restricted to five different regions, and these vary for each person.

Please navigate to Azure Policy --> Authoring --> Assignments using link below:

https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Policy/PolicyMenuBlade/~/Assignments

Look for an assignment similar to "Allowed locations", or something with location as part of the name. Click on this assignment, and then examine the Parameter value for list of regions.

These are the regions you are allowed to deploy resources to. Please try to create VM in one of these regions and reply back here with result.
