My Junk Mail has two lines. The first shows the email's subject line, the second shows the actual email with the same subject line. How do I turn this off?

    I found a solution. Select Junk Mail, in the top right corner select "By Date", select "Date". That cleared up the issue of two subject lines on same email.

    It seems your View is set to "Group By Subject".

    Changing your sorting to "By Date" will most likely put the View back the way that you want it.

    • Simplified Ribbon
      View-> Arrange By-> Date
    • Classic Ribbon
      View-> Arrangement Group-> Date

    In a Single Line view, you can also press on the "Received" column.

    Otherwise, reset your View in the affected folder back to change it back to default;

    • Simplified Ribbon
      View-> Current View-> Reset View
    • Classic Ribbon
      View-> Reset View

    Hi Commander Dave,

    Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

    Your Junk Email folder in Outlook may display two lines for each message because the current view settings have Message Preview or Conversation View enabled.

    You can turn this off by following these steps:

    1. Open Outlook (Classic Desktop App).

    2. Go to the View tab on the ribbon.

    3. In the Messages group:

    • Click Message Preview > Select Off.

    4. If the duplication persists, check:

    • View Settings > Columns > Ensure only one Subject column is selected.
    • Disable Show in Groups if enabled.

    5. Additionally, if Conversation View is turned on:

    • Go to View > Show as Conversations > Select Off.

    After completing these steps, Outlook will display each email on a single line.

    Hi Commander Dave,

    Here are the steps to make each email appear on a single line, depending on which version of Outlook you are using:

    For Outlook on the Web (OWA)

    The two-line display occurs because Message preview text is enabled. To adjust:

    • Click the Settings in the top-right corner.
    • Go to Mail > Layout.
    • Under Message list format, choose either:
      • Sender name first or Subject first (your preference).
    • Under Message preview text, select:
      • Hide preview text.
    • Save your changes.

    After this, each email will display on one line without preview text.

    For Outlook Desktop (Classic App)

    The two-line display is usually caused by Message Preview or Conversation View. To turn these off:

    • Open Outlook Desktop.
    • Go to the View tab on the ribbon.
    • In the Messages group:
      • Click Message Preview > Select Off.
    • If duplication persists:
      • Click View Settings > Columns > Ensure only one Subject column is selected.
      • Disable Show in Groups if enabled.
    • Check Conversation View:
      • Go to View > Show as Conversations > Select Off.

    Please let me know if these steps resolve the incident or if you need further assistance.

    None of the recommended steps have worked. I still have the same problem.
